Pure Ecstasy, “Easy” MP3

October 05, 2009

Dudes are getting sworded in New York and are not even really that mad about it, which is crazy. Us? We're kind of weirded out, so we're turning to Austin-based Pure Ecstasy's "Easy," (available from Light Lodge now.) which has us reconsidering our recently adopted skepticism toward the million-and-a-half new bands dropping singles every day. On the surface "Easy" is relaxing (it's called "Easy!") but there's some uncomfortable edginess underneath the reverb and the guitar that sounds like it can't have cost more than 25 bucks. Granted, it's not relaxing enough to make us fully forget that samurai swords are somehow legit problem solvers in 2009, but it does keep us simultaneously calm and on our toes, like when it's sunny and rainy at the same time.
