Stream: Blonde Redhead’s New Album Penny Sparkle

September 07, 2010

Somber and stoic. Not the same Blonde Redhead that Steve Shelley yanked from New York City in the '90s. You could smash a guitar to their first few albums, but their later releases have been more meditative versions of post-punk, including their most recent,Penny Sparkle, which is now streaming over at NPR before its release on September 14. This record is definitely their most soothing to date. Could it be because frontwoman Kazu Makino isn't entirely sure if she's real?
