Wavves Wins the VMAs

August 29, 2011

Wavves' Twitter play-by-play of last night's VMAs struck the most endearing balance of awestruck and uncivil, with frontman Nathan Williams and bassist Stephen Pope grinning through a drug-addled trip from the red carpet to a curb somewhere out back to an LAPD trailer and Lil Wayne's after party. Elsewhere on the internet, the perpetually more-famous gruesome Wavves twosome released "I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl," the first of allegedly 20 original songs the band is contributing as "guest composer" to MTV's new show I Just Want My Pants Back. Download the track below, and check out highlights of Wavves' big night, with an ironic little twist from the band's manager, under it.
