Real Estate’s album Days is a gem. A subtle gem, to be sure, but it's akin to calling hiking or reading subtle activities—they can be enjoyed by all because they are universally sublime. Finding a perfect balance between the extended jams of hippie bands to the lulling drive of indie rock, Days is a genuine treat to listen to, catchy but not saccharine, emotionally true while not trite or whiny. Someone recently described the record as more than his fall soundtrack, calling the record itself a cardigan. That's about right. Whatever your sweater preference, bring it when Real Estate play their record release party this coming weekend at the Astoria Beer Garden and catch them on the cover of The FADER, on stands soon.
