The Livewire Records compilation Mafia dropped last week, and it's a solid outing for the Oakland-based label. If you're familiar with their output, it may not be a surprise, but there are some moments within the record that deserve some attention. An immediate highlight is the SDot Beats-produced "Play It How I Plan It," which, like much of the record, is replete with pristine-ly mastered '80s-derived synthesizers, Coke bottle percussion, and 808s, hold the heartbreak.
