Each Gun Outfit song feels like it's built on constant tension—flat vocals are paired with roiling guitars to make songs that sit somewhere between exhausted and really angry. It's for all those reasons that "Lau Blues," a song that sounds past the point of despair, shouldn't work. But it does. Hanging on a barely-there guitar lick and stumbling drums, singer Dylan Sharp casually drops heavy lyrics about being born ashamed, chopping wood and dignity.
