For our big Fall Fashion issue, we paid extra attention to what our cover stars would be wearing on the front of the magazine. Here, we tell you what Sky and Mac are wearing, and a little bit about the inspiration for each look.

SKY FERREIRA
Sweater by Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, dress by Carven

Sky is a muse for designer Hedi Slimane and his recently relaunched update of YSL, now dubbed Saint Laurent for a younger, grungier look, so it felt like a truly natural fit to dress her in one of the pieces from this season—stylist Ian Bradley chose a chunky grey sweater that feels directly pulled from the grunge era. "Saint Laurent's fall collection was so Sky to me, and she'd wear almost every piece in it," says Bradley. "So I just picked a couple that I really thought she'd love. You can picture her wearing this outfit on her own—and that's the goal." For the dress, Sky wears a simple slip by Carven, another French label currently having a resurgence on the runway. "We just wanted her to look natural, relaxed" says Bradley.

MAC MILLER
Sweater by Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen

The goal with Mac was to keep it simple—Alex Frank tried dressing him in a few patterned button down shirts, but Mac looked best in a simple sweater by streetwear brand Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen, who, just like Mac, is based in Los Angeles. It wasn't all completely thought out, though: "This was the last look of the day, we were all tired," says Frank. "So that's his own white T-shirt underneath the sweater. We just put it on right over."
