My first reaction to this is: sad that I didn't start a band called COOPER first. Second: Montreal's COOPER was recently signed to Mom + Pop by Sara Quin, of Tegan and Sara, and their affinity seems obvious—the buildup to the chorus on "Heaviest of Weights" would've sounded totally at home on my favorite T&S album, 2007's The Con. Some people might find the tones a little too similar (same probably applies to COOPER's previous track, "Flood") but me, I don't give a shit. I liked the sound then, I like it now. Big time pump-up, I bet this album'll be great.
