Hood By Air Decks Out A Pair of Timberlands With Swarovski Crystals for Charity

The CFDA nominee reimagined a pair of Timberlands for an auction benefitting Free Arts NYC.

Timberlands have never been out of style but they've been especially relevant as of late with cosigns from Rihanna, Drake, M.I.A. and Kanye -- who showed up to Hood By Air's spring '14 show in a pair. Fittingly, the outdoorsy shoe has now gotten a modern update at the hands of Hood By Air's Shayne Oliver. The CFDA fashion fund nominee was commissioned by Anna Wintour's prestigious organization to reimagine the shoe for a charity auction benefitting Free Arts NYC, a non-profit that brings art education and mentoring programs to under-served children. The result is a sparkling pair dripping with Swarovski crystals, which is an appropriate decoration considering Oliver is up for the Swarovski Award for Menswear. "I received my first pair of Timberland boots at the age of 13," Oliver explained. "I still wear them to this day and believe they have stood as a good luck charm for me in my fashion trajectory." You'll have to be a size 10.5 to fit into them as there was only one pair made. If that's the case, get bidding: the starting price is $200 and the auction ends June 2 at 7 pm EST.
