FADER PREMIERE

LA modular synth head M. Geddes Gengras follows his collaboration with Sun Araw and The Congos with new record Ishi, due out on Matthewdavid's Leaving Records on June 24th. Searching for peace through patches, he teases something that sounds almost organic from his machines on "Passage". Listen close and there are many trembling parts that make up the whole, some moving at a speedy pace, and yet the feeling it evokes is one of pause. The record is named for the lone survivor of the Yahi Indian tribe, subject of the 1961 book Ishi: In Two Words, and was born from the loss of two of Gengras' friends. Feelings, then, run deep on "Passage"; it's just over eleven minutes of pure contemplation.
