Listen to Lord RAJA Deftly Bend and Twist Beat Tape Sonics On “Darwin”

A first glimpse of what his forthcoming debut album has in store.

August 28, 2014

Two minutes can go by pretty quickly, but on “Darwin,” Lord RAJA makes sure that he leaves his mark. With an air of beat tape flexing, he introduces a direct, melodic bass line and proceeds to bend and twist—pulling out a detailed, click-clack rhythm here, a pastoral, jazzy synth sequence there—turning each section of the track into a unique sonic environment. It’s a loud announcement of the producer’s talent, and fittingly so, as we’re pleased to announce that he’s got his debut album, A Constant Moth, landing on Ghostly International on December 2nd. Stay on the look out for that, and have a go at decoding “Darwin” in the mean time.
