Detroit rapper Dej Loaf's "Try Me" is the sweet-and-sour sleeper of the summer. Released earlier this year, the track caught the attention of Drake, who commented on Dej's Instagram and promptly led everyone to guess a remix (not unlike Drake's touch on ILoveMakonnen's "Club Going Up on a Tuesday") was on the way. Fans were half right, but it was Wiz Khalifa who dropped a remix of the burgeoning hit on Monday. Khalifa's verse kicks the synth-laden melody into OD, if only briefly, rapping about stacks on stacks on stacks and fame, with a shout out to his own Taylor Gang. It's a nice bump for the track but doesn't overpower Dej's own melodic and lyrical dares, which go down like sugar-coated medicine. "Let a nigga try me, try me/I'ma get his whole motherfuckin' family/And I ain't plain' with nobody/Fuck around and I'ma catch a body" she rap-sings on the chorus, not long after dropping the line "Put the burner to his tummy/and make it bubbly." Over/under on a Drake remix going up in 3…2…?
