Stream suicideyear’s Sad Remix of Saint Pepsi’s “Fiona Coyne”

The Baton Rouge producer turns out an introspective edit of the a-side.

October 02, 2014

New York-based pop songwriter Saint Pepsi,  who just made us a FADER Mix last week, has gotten a lot of mileage out of his two-sided Carpark single. Shape-shifting Maryland artist Sam Ray bka Ricky Eat Acid re-imagined "Fall Harder" at the end of the summer and now Baton Rouge producer suicideyear has lent his emotional textures to the a-side. While the original song is like the electro-funk equivalent of the Heart Eyes Emoji, suicideyear's version sets Pepsi's lovestruck vocal blips against an inward-looking soundscape of sad chords and irregular, trap-style percussive patterns. This pairing feels like it was a long-time coming; both dudes actually DJ'd at The FADER Fort in Texas this spring. Suicideyear's new album, Remembrance, is out now on Software.
