Never one to follow, Beyoncé is seeing the range of musician-designed collaborative capsule collections and doing them one better: building a new brand from the ground up. Beyoncé and Topshop have formed a permanent venture company, official name TBD, to craft a new sportswear line. As Topshop's owner, Sir Philip Green, told WWD, "This is not a collaboration, this is about building a brand and building a business." The new athletic division could potentially have sportswear ready for retail, possibly as stores-within-a-store as early as next fall. While it's unclear exactly what role Bey will play—designer? ambassador? CEO?—we have to imagine that this, like most things she touches, will be gold. What would Beyoncé wear to work out? Looks like we're going to find out.
