Later this week, Rick Fumuyiwa's Dope will premiere at Sundance. Partly inspired by the director's own experiences growing up, the film is about a hip-hop nerd name Malcolm (Shameik Moore) who is doing his best to maneuver through adolescence and the more dangerous elements of life in his native Inglewood, California. "We've seen a lot of films about everything else in these neighborhoods—the crime, the athletes, the gangs—but you don't see films about the regular kids who have to survive in these streets," Fumuyiwa explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Pharrell wrote four songs for the film, and A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples, and Tyga are all listed to make cameos. Check out the trailer above, and see if you can spot Rocky.
