Ecco2k’s New Jam Is A Loving Ode To Satellite Surveillance

And, possibly, mopeds.

February 03, 2015

A little over a year ago, we debuted a pretty unforgettable video from rapper/singer/producer/director and Gravity Boys member Ecco2k. Like many a missive from that Stockholm-based cohort, along with Yung Lean's Sad Boys crew, the song was rapped in an Auto-Tuned monotone, but it was also a loving ode to high definition video; the clip was expressively pixellated, to the point that he seemed to be composed of digital matter. Flash forward to this twinkling, whitearmor-produced new jam, and the crew appears to have upgraded its name to Gravity Boys Shield Gang; to judge from the accompanying video for "guardianAngels((NATU))," which he co-directed with pwrstudio, the project seems to have gone through a little visual upgrade as well, forgoing the DIY craftiness of his earlier productions for something a little slicker and more expensive-looking. Of course, he seems just as obsessed with technology as ever, riding around a city on a moped and waxing sentimental about satellite surveillance in between references to Acne and Prada Sport Mist. Read the lyrics here for the full, sublime-but-automaton-like effect (there's also a free download).
