Tiga And Boys Noize Premiere Gritty Techno Track “Jam#1”

The Montreal producer also announces a new live show and future collaborations with Hudson Mohawke and Matthew Dear.

Hot on the success of last year’s “Bugatti”—a minimal, insistent track which impressed Pusha T enough that he got on the remix—the Montreal producer Tiga collaborated with Boyz Noize on a new single, “Jam#1,” premiering today on FADER. It’s pleasantly raw, full of sludgy bass and onslaughts of muddy drums, as if all the instruments overwhelmed the sound system when the song was being recorded. While “Bugatti,” worked around a sneering hook—“what are you driving? I said Bugatti”—here Tiga relies on well-timed bursts of heavy-breathing, which serve to cool down the track when things threaten to boil over.

"Me and Alex Boys Noize have been friends forever, and we always wanted to make traxx," Tiga tells FADER. "This year it happened: check out ‘Jam #1’ and ‘100', coming soon on Turbo Recordings and part of the massive BNR Records tie-in 10 year anniversary parties together.”

In addition to forthcoming co-productions with Hudson Mohawke and Matthew Dear, Tiga will be unveiling a live show this summer to satisfy a new itch. “For as long as I can remember—which is forever—I’ve been a DJ," he said in a press release. "But it’s just not enough anymore. I have performed for thousands, but have I ever truly held anyone’s gaze as I sang straight into their eyes?” If you’re in Europe summer, you might get the chance to be at the receiving end of his stares.
