Think Positive With Victoria Monét’s “See The Light”

How can we be happy all the time, lucky all the time?

June 01, 2015

Following a brief stint in Rodney “Darkchild" Jerkins’ gal group Purple Reign, singer Victoria Monét has staked out a quite successful career on her own—accumulating writing credits for marquee names such as Chris Brown, Fifth Harmony, and Ariana Grande (who even called Victoria her "favorite"), and serving up angular, '90s-inflected R&B bangers of her own. To wit: "See the Light," her latest collaboration with go-to producer (and boo) Tommy Brown and a cry for positivity. How can we be happy all the time, lucky all the time? she sings. We got to see the middle of the night just to recognize the little moments where we see the light.

"The big goal, of course, is happiness, but not everyday is so bright," Monét told The FADER. "So 'See The Light' is a song about sharing those feelings with someone special who understands where you're coming from. After all, those bad days help you appreciate the best days." Hit play below; grab Nightmares & Lullabies: Act II EP when it drops June 16th.
