Helen Announces Debut Album And Shares “Motorcycle”

Sweet fuzz pop from a new project.

Sometimes bands become something unexpected: Helen—a Portland, Oregon band containing Liz Harris (Grouper), Jed Bindeman (Eternal Tapestry), Scott Simmons, and Helen—was originally aiming to produce thrash metal. But the group shared their first song today, and “Motorcycle” is a long way from the aggression of thrash. The track is full of soothing, high vocals from Harris and Helen. While there’s a raucous energy in the guitar, the singing smooths over the rough riffs, and just as you settle in, "Motorcycle" disappears—it’s not even two minutes long.

“Motorcycle” is the second track on The Original Faces, Helen’s forthcoming debut. Listen below, and look for the full-length on September 4th. Read FADER's interview with Harris here.
