Empress Of’s “Kitty Kat” Is A Synth-Pop Thunderstorm About Cat-Calling

Her anticipated debut full-length, Me, drops this fall.

July 20, 2015

Two years after grabbing our attention with her YouTube "Colorminutes" series, Empress Of has begun to tease us with new tracks: the rivulet that began with "Water Water" widens with today's release of "Kitty Kat," a powerful synth-led pop song. It's accompanied by a video in which an anonymous set of hands turns over exotic postcards with the song's lyrics printed on them. According to a press release, Rodriguez wrote the song during a five week solo recording session in Mexico where she was repeatedly cat-called. Her debut full-length, Me, is being released by Terrible Records on September 11th. Check her tour dates below, too.
