Angel Olsen Collaborators Lionlimb Premiere A Hopeful New Single

“Turnstile” is from the Bayonet Records signee’s first official release.

August 11, 2015

Nashville-bred songwriter Stewart Bronaugh sometimes plays in Angel Olsen's backing band. For his Lionlimb project, though, he's assuming the frontman position and recruiting fellow Angel Olsen collaborator Joshua Jaeger to play drums. On September 18th, new-ish Brooklyn label Bayonet Records will release the pair's first official 7-inch. Today, we're premiering "Turnstile."

The track features a big, catchy arrangement that smartly spotlights Bronaugh's intimate vocals, a hopeful melody, and its warped, waterlogged electric guitar tone. Also, Your love is a turnstile and I jumped it is a pretty poignant metaphor for any lovesick city-dweller who's ever risked a $100 fine to catch the subway. “A turnstile allows one person to pass at a time and usually will only accept you after you've paid, whether it's public transit or a pay toilet in Germany," singer/guitarist Bronaugh told FADER over email. "Your relationship to a person can be like that."
