The “short film” was shot in one-take on 16mm film.

HÆLOS—a trio of Londoners making moody, electro-inflected trip-hop on Matador Records—released an intricate four track Earth Not Above EP earlier this summer. Now in these later days they plan to roll out a "film accompaniment" in the form of a short film trilogy "centered around the breakdown of a turbulent and dysfunctional relationship."

Premiering today on The FADER, the first act is set to the EP's title-track. Directed by Jesse Jenkins and shot in one-take on 16mm film, it follows a young woman on a disquieted amble through late night London. The last moment is especially chilling, so do watch to the end.

According to HÆLOS' Arthur Delaney, the haunting but beautiful clip is about "vulnerability, grief and the release that comes when we let go," filtered through a John Cassavetes-like lens. He says: "Jesse's style has a 'dirty boy' handheld feel to it with a John Cassavetes grain and colouring that's raw and beautiful in equal measure. He's put his heart and soul into these films, to work with a young Director of his calibre at this point in our career was very exciting for us. We're looking forward to sharing what we've made with the world.” And we're looking forward to watching.
