What do you get when you add a '90s R&B classic to a '00s R&B classic to a solid house beat? As U.K. duo 99 Souls have discovered, you get an unstoppable hit single—that's just good math. "The Girl Is Mine" is an infectious mash-up of Brandy's "The Boy Is Mine" (minus Monica) and Destiny's Child's "Girl," and is the kind of thing that should be impossible to make fly as an official single—but the previously unknown duo got the sign-off from the likes of Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and the whole Knowles clan in order to finally release "The Girl Is Mine" last month.
The unofficial remix had been floating around since 2014, but now with a re-recorded vocal from Brandy and a "feat" credit for both her and Destiny's Child, it's steadily rocketing into the U.K. charts (and the back of your Friday night Uber to the club). See what all the fuss is about above.
