“We can’t think of a more perfect artist to elevate this soundtrack to incredible heights.”

Aside from various skits on Saturday Night Live, Justin Timberlake's work in pop has largely stayed separate from his acting career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his latest venture will incorporate both pursuits: the star is voicing a character in DreamWorks Animation’s new movie, Trolls, and he'll write new songs for the project as well. On top of that, Timberlake is also executive producing the film.

"I have always envisioned bringing the two worlds of film and music together for one epic event [and] couldn’t be more excited that they will collide in DreamWorks' Trolls," Timberlake told THR. "This film is very special, the music is going to be very special and I can't wait for everyone to experience it all." Executives at DreamWorks added, "Trolls is a comedy with fantastic music at its core and we can’t think of a more perfect artist to elevate this soundtrack to incredible heights."

Timberlake's character, Branch, is described as "a hilariously hardcore survivalist who hides his surprising true colors." He will play opposite Princess Poppy, voiced by Anna Kendrick.
