You Need To Know This British Comedy About Pirate Radio

The BBC show People Just Do Nothing has just been nominated for a prestigious BAFTA award.

March 31, 2016

People Just Do Nothing is a British comedy following the fictional lives of MC Grindah and DJ Beats as they struggle to run their pirate radio station Kurupt FM from the suburbs of west London. Part mockumentary, the show has made stars of its fictional characters. MC Grindah, DJ Beats, Steves, Decoy, Chabuddy G and Fantasy have graced stages from London superclub Fabric to summer weekender Bestival, hating on house music and fighting the good fight to save old school U.K. garage and drum'n'bass.

The show originally started life as a YouTube series in 2010 before being commissioned by the BBC and going on to steal the hearts of its viewers, including Craig David—who's jumped on stage during several of their live performances.

In a surprise move, the show has now been nominated for Best Scripted Comedy at the Television BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), a prestigious awards ceremony with a traditionally stuffy reputation. Whether they win or not, the Kurupt FM gang are sure to bring some much-needed fun to the ceremony.

In the meantime, watch them destroy Charlie Sloth in a rap battle on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Fire in the Booth below.
