VIEWS hit iTunes last night at 11 p.m. and according to Twitter, Drake and the album were the subject of approximately 858,000 tweets in the hour following the release.
That's not bad for 60 minutes's work. For comparison's sake, Beyoncé's LEMONADE premiere event earned 1.8 million tweets over the course of 8 hours (6 p.m. - 2 a.m.). Rihanna racked up 675,000 Twitter mentions in the 24 hours following the release of ANTI.
Kanye West may still be the leader when it comes to inciting a frenzy on social media: when he aimed a series of increasingly caustic tweets at Wiz Khalifa in January, the tweets were seen over 400 million times, and they in turn inspired an additional 6.5 million tweets from other social media users.
