In the photo above, a fresh-faced 19-year-old Amy Winehouse shares a smile in the build up to the release of her debut album FRANK. The photo is taken from a book of unreleased photos of Winehouse titled Before FRANK, shot by photographer Charles Moriarty. The book is expected to be out this summer, thanks to a beyond successful (and still going) Kickstarter campaign.

Moriarty, who shot the photograph of Winehouse that was used as the artwork for her award-winning debut, took the previously unseen photos at shoots in both London and New York. Asif Kapadia, director of the Oscar-winning documentary Amy, states in the book's foreword: "Over the years I have seen thousands of images of Amy, by brilliant photographers from all over the world, but Charles Moriarty's photos stood out." The latter part of Amy’s life was dominated by press documentation of her turbulent lifestyle and addiction; these photos, meanwhile, remember a happier time in the singer's life.
