Designer Tim Coppens Is Under Armour’s New Executive Creative Director

As the athletic brand makes big plans for expansion.

June 02, 2016

As Under Armour continues to compete in the increasingly competitive athletic-wear space, the company is drawing talent and inspiration from the runways. It was announced last night that acclaimed menswear designer Tim Coppens has been appointed as the sportswear brand's new executive creative director. Coppens' design chops are undeniable: he's won the CFDA Swarovski Award for menswear and a nomination for the LVMH prize, and, as Business of Fashion notes, "Coppens’ eponymous fashion label, which launched in 2011, pioneered the luxury sportswear aesthetic." The announcement is tied to Under Armour's plans to expand beyond the explicitly athletic space, and branch out into leisure and lifestyle clothing as well. Expect big tings.
