RGF’s Monty Makes Eyes In The Steamy Video For “Her”

Fetty Wap’s MVP steps out alone.

June 20, 2016

Monty, the rapper and singer who has proven to be Fetty Wap's dearest collaborator (Monty appeared nine times on Fetty's twenty-track 2016 self-titled debut), may be familiar on paper, but as a solo artist he is still very much an enigma. That will not be the case for much longer, however, as today Monty is premiering a steamy video for his new solo single "Her" that he hopes will mark him as his own artist.

"The sound of this record has a rap and R&B flow to it," Monty told The FADER in an email about the track, which is in the thickly auto-tuned vein of Fetty's stuff but a tad more traditional R&B-leaning. "The inspiration behind it comes from that moment when a female that you don't know catches your eye, and you catch hers at the same time. Both of us are curious to find out who's who."

In the video, set in a darkly lit club, Monty flashes his 1738 chain and scopes the scene till he achieves eye-contact with a woman of interest. She is like, who is me? he sings, I'm like, who is her?
