European Collective STAYCORE Take Club Music Into A Bright Future On This Free New Compilation

Toxe, MM, Dinamarca, Mobilegirl, and more contributed productions on the theme of “light.”

July 05, 2016

STAYCORE is the label and crew run from Stockholm by producers/DJs Dinamarca and Ghazal, but its key members — Gen F alumnus Toxe, Alx9696, Mechatok, and Mobilegirl — are based across Europe. Last summer, they graced us with a compilation of dembow-loving club edits of pop songs to guide us into summer, aptly titled Summer Jams 2K15. This year, the prolific crew are releasing another free compilation, and this time it shines even brighter.

Dinamarca explained over email: "This year, we decided to evolve the compilation’s theme of summer into something more globally accurate, since some of the contributing producers live in the southern hemisphere where it’s not summer during the same time as in Europe. It felt a bit limiting naming it after a season that only half the planet would be experiencing during its release date. So instead we gave the producers the task to capture the core of what makes summer nice in the first place — which for us, translated into light. Like the period right before the sun reaches its greatest height, the moment of solstice. We asked them to think of the lightest light, and put that feeling into their tracks, whichever color of light they ended up with in their minds. And the result became the Erelitha compilation."
