Last night Kanye West tweeted a link to rapper Jay Hype's new Who Did It Better? mixtape. The tape features the little-known Hype going in on the "Panda" beat as well as her versions of "All The Way Up," and "Summer Sixteen" as well as a few original tracks, Given Jay Hype's lack of profile, and no obvious G.O.O.D. Music connections, fans began to speculate that Kanye got hacked.

However, it turns out that Kanye and Jay Hype have met before. Her real name is Jamila Sandifer and she is the daughter of Kanye's friend J. Sakiya Sandifer. The elder Sandifer grew up with Kanye in Chicago and in 2009 they wrote a “book of sayings” together, Thank You and You’re Welcome. J. Sakiya spent thanksgiving 2015 with Kanye and Kim Kardashian's family. He tweeted at Jay Hype after the Kanye tweet about her rising stock.

As Complex noted, in 2014 Kanye attended the Wolf Juice open mic night at a Mexican restaurant in New Jersey where he watched Hype perform live. The pair posed for pictures after the event ended.

“Kanye is a very, very big idol in my life and I try to incorporate the stuff he does into my work,” Jay Hype told NJ.com after that open mic appearance two years ago. It looks like Kanye hasn't forgotten her either. Check out the mixtape here and listen to Jay Hype's 2014 Kanye tribute "K.O.W." below.
