Twitter Came Through For Nelly With The #HotInHerreStreamingParty

“That awkward moment when Nelly is in a real dilemma.”

September 13, 2016

Yesterday, September 12, it was reported that Nelly has been hit with a federal tax bill that sees him owe $2,412,283. That's a lot of money, even for an artist whose 2000 album Country Grammar was just certified diamond. (A representative for Nelly did not immediately return The FADER's request for comment.)

Fans of the bandage-sporting rapper have came to Nelly's assistance and decided that the best way to help him make the money he allegedly owes is for everyone to stream "Hot In Herre" as many times as possible on Spotify. Hence, the #HotInHerreStreamingParty. Unfortunately, as Spin have pointed out, Spotify's rate of between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream means that the song would have to be streamed 287,176,547 times to get Nelly his money. Still, that won't stop the party. See some of the best tweets below.
