Hedi Slimane Went Off On Twitter Last Night

Petty or proactive? You decide.

October 07, 2016

For four years, Hedi Slimane's name was inextricable from the heritage design house he helmed, Yves Saint Laurent (famously renamed, during his tenure, Saint Laurent). Though initially it seemed as though Saint Laurent, in the wake of their split earlier this year, was the pettier party, last night Slimane resurrected his Twitter account to unleash a litany of so far unaddressed beefs.

Slimane's 22-tweet-long spree (whose extensive use of the third person has us praying it was written by a subordinate) is all in protest of the designer's use of the classic YSL logo during his tenure at the house. It's unclear exactly what set Slimane off, but it likely had something to do with Saint Laurent's new head designer, Anthony Vaccarello, utilizing the old-school logo with relish in the recent Spring/Summer '17 show. Slimane and Saint Laurent have had a fair amount of legal drama since the former's departure, and clearly the dust has not settled just yet.
