Ice Cube is developing a traveling 3-on-3 pro basketball league called BIG3, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. The league is already picking up steam, and has apparently already gotten commitments to play from former NBA stars like Jermaine O'Neal, Jason Williams (a.k.a. "White Chocolate"), Rashard Lewis, and Stephen Jackson. Gary Payton has also reportedly signed on to coach.

BIG3 will feature eight teams of five players each, touring from city to city across the country playing in 3-on-3 half-court games. Ice Cube is reportedly a co-founder of the league, along with his longtime business partner Jeff Kwatinetz.

Cube spoke to Woj's The Vertical on the inspiration behind the concept, saying, “I thought of this concept as a fan who got sick of seeing his heroes retire and not play anymore. A lot of these guys can still play once they retire – just not the back-to-backs or four games in five nights."

For now, BIG3 has a limited site set up along with a mailing list sign-up for those curious about new updates. Check that out here.
