Kendrick Lamar Walks Back Talk Of New Music

DAMN.’s followup isn’t imminent.

April 21, 2017

Update, 4/21/17, 2:16 p.m: Lamar tweeted out a retraction on Friday afternoon. He wrote: "KenFolk. ThankU 4 the desire of always anticipating new music of my own. None is coming. My work will be in our future TDE dates tho. 💯#DAMN"

Kendrick Lamar hinted at forthcoming new music during an Instagram Live Q&A session at a Best Buy in Compton, FACT has reported. "I got more music coming, ya dig what I'm saying?" he said just before signing off.

Kendrick Lamar released DAMN. last week. Not long after, rumors began to circulate that he would release another new project on Easter Sunday. That never happened.

It's not unprecedented for a high-profile artist to follow a release with promises of impending new music, only for nothing to materialize. A new LP from Kanye West was supposed to come just a few months after 2016's The Life Of Pablo.

On the other hand, Future surprised everyone this year when the Atlanta rapper dropped two albums a week apart.

Representatives for Kendrick Lamar declined to comment.
