Steve McQueen Is Directing A New Documentary About Tupac
The rapper’s estate is teaming up with White Horse Pictures, Jayson Jackson, and Amaru Entertainment for the upcoming film.
The estate of Tupac Shakur has announced a new documentary about the late rapper's life, directed by Academy Award-winner Steve McQueen.
“I am extremely moved and excited to be exploring the life and times of this legendary artist," McQueen said in a press release. "I attended NYU film school in 1993 and can remember the unfolding hip-hop world and mine overlapping with Tupac’s through a mutual friend in a small way. Few, if any shined brighter than Tupac Shakur. I look forward to working closely with his family to tell the unvarnished story of this talented man.”
The film is being produced by White Horse Pictures, Jayson Jackson, and Amaru Entertainment, the company set up by Afeni Shakur to release Tupac's posthumous projects. The project was authorized by the Shakur Estate. A biopic on Shakur entitled All Eyez On Me is scheduled to be released in theaters in June.
