Richard Russell, the head of XL Recordings, has a new collaborative project featuring a rolling list of guest vocalists and musicians. Today, May 12, sees the first official release from the project, which operates under the name Everything Is Recorded.

Close But Not Quite is a five-song EP which features the previously heard title track, which has Sampha on vocals. There are also contributions from Obongjayar, Warren Ellis, Infinite, Mela Murder, Green Gartside, and Baluji Shrivastav. Giggs, meanwhile, goes in over a new version of of Gil Scott-Heron’s 2010 track "Me and the Devil." The whole EP is streaming via the YouTube player above.

Russell has documented the many recording sessions and jams at his London studio ‘The Copper House’ on Instagram. Other guests involved in the project include Syd, Kamasi Washington, Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Mark Ronson, and Peter Gabriel.
