During a live taping of Bill Maher's show on June 2, Maher used a racial slur while interviewing Nebraskan Senator Ben Sasse. There was a heavy amount backlash, with some people demanding that HBO fire Maher. Clearly that didn't end up happening and Maher issued an apology shortly following the criticism he received.
In the June 9 taping, one of Maher's guest was Ice Cube, who did not laugh off the situation with Maher. Maher doesn't take Ice Cube's critiques very seriously, and rebuffed several assessments Ice Cube made about him.
The highlight of the exchange was Ice Cube telling Maher that "sometimes you sound like a redneck trucker."
