Jay Z Personally Thanked Over 90 Of The Greatest Rappers Of All Time On Twitter

President Obama sent his congratulations to Hov for his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

June 15, 2017

Jay Z was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday, the first rapper to ever receive the honor. That night, Jay took to his mostly dormant Twitter account to show some love to the rappers who have inspired him along the way. What followed was a 13-tweet declaration of over 90 rappers.

Jay shouted out artists from both his era and the present day, naming everyone from Biggie and Tupac to Tyler, the Creator and Playboi Carti, adding, "Magnolia incredible."

Chance the Rapper, Drake, Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, Kanye, Andre 3000, Nas, Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, and many more were all named over an hour and a half.

It became clear that the 47-year-old doesn't use Twitter regularly when he tweeted out, "Somebody find that reply I just hit please . I'm new on this . Anyway salute to anybody who made a song to feed their family or just vent ."

Beyoncé also received a shoutout from her husband for her under-acknowledged rapping ability. One tweet included, "B a rapper too!"

President Obama even made the list, with Jay saying that the former president is "the greatest rapper of all time." He attached a Dropbox link that no longer works, but supposedly linked to a video of Obama that was used to present Jay with his award.

In the video, Obama drew a comparison between himself and Jay, saying "Nobody who met us as younger men would expect us to be where we are today. We know what it's like to not have a father around. We know what it's like not to come from much and to know people who didn't get the same breaks that we did."

Obama also took the time to give a shout out to Beyoncé and Michelle, saying "And let's face it, we both have wives who are significantly more popular than we are."
