On July 14, futurist hip-hop duo Shabazz Palaces will release two new albums: Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines, and you can hear them both a week early over at NPR.

The albums are two parts of a single narrative. Gangster Star introduces Quazarz, who according to a press release, is "a sentient being from somewhere else, an observer sent here to Amurderca to chronicle and explore as a musical emissary."

"What he finds in our world is a cutthroat place, a landscape where someone like him could never quite feel comfortable amidst all the brutality and alternative facts and death masquerading as connectivity."

Jealous Machines, the second album, explores our growing relationship with technology. "Quazarz vs The Jealous Machines finds our protagonist with his dazzling cohorts rising a collective Nah to the device[s] and the guilds that proliferate them.

Listen to both albums (in sequence) via NPR. Quazarz: Born On A Gangster Star and Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines both drop July 14 on Sub Pop. Stream the Thundercat-featuring Gangster Star single "Since C.A.Y.A." below.
