Astrid S And SKAM Star Herman Tømmeraas Twist Up Relationship Clichés In Her New Video

The Norwegian pop star teams up with Penetrator-Chris for “Such A Boy.”

Norwegian artist Astrid S’s plain-spoken confidence is at the core of her inventive, wobbly synth pop. So it’s not wholly surprising that she has close links with SKAM — the Nordic TV phenomenon with a realer, more inclusive portrayal of teen life than anything else out there. The 20-year-old artist’s heart-wrenching cover of Nordic rap track "Vi Er Perfekt Men Verden Er Ikke Det” played during the final season’s groundbreaking romance between Muslim lead character Sana and Yousef, and she also cameoed in an S2 party scene last year.

During her time on set, Astrid met actor Herman Tømmeraas, who plays Penetrator-Chris in the show. Now, he's starring as her will-they-won’t-they love interest in the neon-lit “Such A Boy” video, which premiers on FADER today. It’s an intimate and fun two-hander mirroring the song’s direct lyrics, with plenty of eye rolls from Astrid at her man’s dumb immaturity, shirtless make out sessions — and someone gets a glass of water in their face .

In an email to The FADER, Astrid explained: "I wanted the video to portray a relationship the opposite way to how it's usually portrayed in movies and music videos. Girls are portrayed as the weak and emotional ones — so in a subtle way, I wanted to turn the tables and make the boy the insecure one”

Herman added, also via email: "The whole weekend of shooting was a great time. Astrid’s a good friend of mine — I remember we were doing a scene where I was supposed to be upset, and Astrid was trying to provoke me. She ended up sticking her fingers in my face while I struggled not to smile. Then it just became a thing we did in almost every 'fighting scene' we had!”
