A new report in TMZ claims that police in Tucson, Arizona have opened an investigation into the death of Lil Peep, who passed away on November 16. A preliminary statement released by a medical examiner said the rapper likely died of a drug overdose.

The investigation will look at Twitter messages allegedly sent by Mariah Bons, who claimed to have supplied Peep and his crew GothBoiClique (GBC) with drugs. "GBC high af because of me and my friend lol," one message reads, followed by another: "He passed the fuck out my brother called and I tried to get him to say hi to my brother but he wouldn't wake up ..."

Police are reportedly investigating if Peep took drugs laced with fentanyl, a highly toxic opioid. On Monday, Peep's mother Liza Womack co-signed a campaign to get his album Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1 to No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart.
