Beyoncé and Elton John will work on a song for the Lion King remake

The 2019 film will contain four songs from the 1994 original.

Beyoncé and Elton John will collaborate on a new, original song for the soundtrack to the upcoming Lion King remake, John revealed during an interview with The Sun. John co-wrote the soundtrack for the original version of the Disney classic with Tim Rice, and Beyoncé is starring as Nala in the Jon Favreau-directed remake.

Beyoncé reportedly approached Elton John to work together of a song for the soundtrack, and he accepted. “They need to have a new end credits song," Elton John told The Sun. "We’ve been speaking to Beyoncé’s people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something." He added: "It will be great to work with her."

The new film will be released in 2019, with the soundtrack coming the same year. The remake will also contain four songs from the original 1994 version of the animated classic: "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?," "Hakuna Matata," "I Just Can’t Wait To Be King," and "Circle of Life."

Joining Beyoncé in the remake's cast are Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Eric André as Azizi, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.
