Danai Gurira will write Lupita Nyong’o’s Americanah adaptation

It’s their second collaboration as writer and actor.

Lupita Nyong'o optioned the rights to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Americanah back in 2014, just a year after the best-selling novel's release. But the project has apparently only recently taken real shape. In an interview with Extra from January, Nyong'o confirmed that her Black Panther co-star Danai Gurira will write the adaptation, which is set to become a miniseries, while Nyong'o herself will star.

This is the second collaboration between the two as actor and writer. Gurira, who's an accomplished playwright as well as an actress, penned Eclipsed, for which Nyong'o won a Tony award (Guirira was also nominated).
