Lorde has apologised after using what she later decribed as an "extremely poorly chosen quote" on Instagram. The singer wrote “And iiii will always love you,” alongside a picture of her bathtub, a comment some fans felt was insensitive due to Whitney Houston's death in 2012.

Acknowledging that referencing Houston's 1992 after she died of accidental drowning was innapropriate, Lorde said she had not thought it through. “Extremely extremely poorly chosen quote,” she wrote in a subsequent Instagram story. “I’m so sorry for offending anyone—I hadn’t even put this together I was just excited to take a bath.”

She added in a second post: “IT IS NOT MY FKN DAY TODAY.”

Lorde is currently on tour and was recently joined on stage by Jack Antonoff to cover St. Vincent's "New York" in the city.
