Eminem doesn’t care if he frightens fans with loud noises

“You shouldn’t be here.”

Eminem's headline set at Bonnaroo earlier this month was met with criticism from some in attendance over the apparent use of gunshot sounds used throughout the set. On Sunday night Eminem headlined another festival, this time Firefly in Delaware, and staged a strong defence of his stage show.

A message shown on the screens before Eminem arrived on stage read: “If you are easily frightened by loud noises or offended by explicit lyrics, you shouldn’t be here." The image was shared by Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg via Instagram.

Rosenberg previously defended Eminem in a separate Instagram post. “Contrary to inaccurate reports, @Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show," he wrote. "The effect used by Eminem in his set at @bonnaroo was a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom. He has used this effect — as have hundreds other artists — in his live show for over 10 years, including previous US festival dates in 2018 without complaint.”

Eminem's next festival dates, should you dare attend, include appearances in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
