Watch a trailer for Barry Jenkins’s If Beale Street Could Talk
The new movie from the writer/director of Moonlight is out November 30.
Barry Jenkins took to Twitter on Thursday morning to share the first trailer to If Beale Street Could Talk, his follow-up film to his Oscar-winning smash hit Moonlight. The film is based on a novel by James Baldwin, and the trailer was shared on August 2, what would have been Baldwin's 94th birthday.
The film follows a young couple named Tish and Fonny, played by Kiki Layne and Stephen James. Fonny is accused of a crime and incarcerated, leaving Tish to raise their young child and attempt to clear Fonny's name. Teyonah Parris, Regina King, Colman Domingo, and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta's Paper Boi) also star. If Beale Street Could Talk will premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will have a wide release on November 30, 2018.
