Cardi B has apologized for her role in a comedic Martin Luther King sketch
King’s family labeled the skit “repulsive.”
On Tuesday TMZ shared a leaked sketch from an upcoming episode of Off The Rip in which Cardi B plays Martin Luther King Jr.'s late wife Coretta Scott King. The sketch comes from Wild N Out’s Rip Michaels and landed online on the 55th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.
Dr. King’s family, including son Martin Luther King III and daughter Bernice King, do not approve of the comedy sketch, which includes their father being called a "hoe" at one point, “repulsive" and "false."
Later on Tuesday Bernice King tweeted at Cardi and thanked her for "reaching out and apologizing.” The apology was not made public by either Cardi or the King family. The FADER has reached out to Cardi B’s representatives for further comment.
