BRB, blasting Hoodcelebrityy’s “Inna Real Life” on repeat

The rising dancehall star proves her staying power with the lead single from her new EP.

27-year-old rising dancehall star Hoodcelebrityy has been making music for a few years, but caught a lot of ears last fall with her sultry late-Fall hit “Walking Trophy.” Last fall I wrote that it was a “turn-up-with-your-girls-one-time anthem of the winter,” and I still stand behind that. Today on The FADER, the Jamaican-born Bronx-raised artist is premiering the video for “Inna Real Life,” the title track from her new EP of the same name, and it's so, so good. It's an upbeat end of summer jam celebrating her wins IRL: looking good, getting fly, turning up on life, and poppin' bottles with her best pals.

“The 'Inna Real Life' video is about me going back to my hometown and reuniting with the people in my community, where it all started,” Hoodcelebrityy shared with us over email. “Just all about fun and what goes on inna real life.” Her project, out today, came from hard, careful work in the studio. As she explained, “I [took my time] so people could really understand the versatility of Hoodcelebrityy and that I’m way more than just ‘Walking Trophy.’ It’s definitely going to show people my growth and I can’t wait for the world to hear what I got.” Watch the video above.
