Missy Elliott surprises viral video star who sang “Work It”
Missy finally meets her “funky white sister.”
Back in August, a hilarious video surfaced of an older white woman — named Mary Halsey — masterfully performing Missy Elliott's 2002 smash hit "Work It" at what looked to be a cook out. After making the rounds via social media, Halsey's viral feat eventually captured the attention of Missy Elliott, who called her a "funky white sister."
The video also landed Halsey on Ellen this Thursday, where she explained that she's been performing the song for over 13 years. Halsey then dropped a performance for the show's studio audience — and received some surprise help from Missy herself. Upon finishing, the two, along with host Ellen DeGeneres, warmly hugged it out.
